New Orleans

Mon Nov 23, 2009, 10:11 PM
Just got back from a short (3 day) trip to New Orleans, Louisiana last night (Sunday) after a really long day of travelling by both plane and car...whew, I'm beat.

Will be uploading the results of our trekking around the French Quarter as well as a visit to the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas on our last day (which was unfortunately rainy).

The weird thing was, I totally forgot my 18-200mm Tamron lens at home! A week before we left, we did an informal studio photo shoot at my sister-in-law's place to take some promotional shots for my husband's furniture touch-up business and at the time, I changed my camera over to my better quality (Nikon) lenses just in case. So I didn't think anything of it to see a larger lens on my camera before we left on our trip...at a glance, my Nikkor 55-200mm looks a lot like the 18-200mm if you don't look closely enough.

On the one hand, it's too bad since it's so handy to have the range of the 18-200mm without switching lenses. On the plus side, I like to think the pics I took with my Nikon D40 turned out quite crisp thanks to the Nikkor lenses I had on hand (just the 50mm F1.4 and the 55-200mm).

Oh well. Live and learn. The moral of the story: always double-check your camera bag before travelling to make sure you have the right lenses!

No problem; thank YOU for taking the time to write all of this out. I'm constantly looking for ways to challenge my poetry writing abilities and am also "studying up" early for a poetry course next term and I have a very strong feeling the instructor is going to make us do these...

That's quite possible. This is one of those styles that professors tend to lean toward, because it's so unkown.

Glad I could give you a heads up!
